NON NOBIS SED PATRIAE

Warrant Officer Denis Raymond Brown was killed as a result of an improvised explosive device attack on an armoured vehicle during a patrol in the Arghandab District. The incident occurred in the vicinity of Arghandab District, northwest of Kandahar City at around 5:40 p.m., Kandahar time on 3 March 2009. Warrant Officer Denis Raymond Brown was from The Lincoln and Welland Regiment, and served with Joint Task Force Afghanistan (JTF-Afg). Joint Task Force Afghanistan (JTF-Afg) is the Canadian Forces (CF) contribution to the international effort in Afghanistan. Its operations focus on working with Afghan authorities to improve security, governance and economic development in Afghanistan. JTF-Afg is comprised of about 2,830 CF members. Most of them serve at Kandahar Airfield or Camp Nathan Smith, the home of the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Kandahar City. CF members also work at various military headquarters and support bases in southwest Asia, and with civilian organizations in Afghanistan. L’incident est survenu le 3 mars 2009, vers 17 h 40, dans le district d’Arghandab, au nord-ouest de la ville de Kandahar. L’Adjudant Denis Raymond Brown appartenait au Lincoln and Welland Regiment et servait avec la Force opérationnelle interarmées en Afghanistan (FOI-Afg). La Force opérationnelle interarmées en Afghanistan (FOI-Afg) est la contribution des Forces canadiennes à l’effort international en Afghanistan. Ses opérations portent sur le travail avec les autorités afghanes pour améliorer la sécurité, la gouvernance et le développement économique en Afghanistan. La FOI-Afg est constituée d’approximativement 2 830 membres des FC. La plupart d’entre eux sert à l’aérodrome de Kandahar ou au Camp Nathan Smith, foyer de l’Équipe provinciale de reconstruction à Kandahar City. Les membres des FC travaillent aussi dans divers quartiers généraux militaires et bases de soutien dans le sud-ouest asiatique et avec des organisations civiles en Afghanistan.

WO Brown was killed Tuesday March 4 2009 when an improvised explosive device detonated near an armoured vehicle during a patrol in the Arghandab District.
